HACCP-certifed air coolers for the food and beverages industry
Those who think of machines for food treatment when speaking of HACCP are not wrong. However, the principles of the „Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points“ in industrial food treatment cover a signifcantly wider range. The entire process is subject to stringent hygiene directives, which translates into the fact that all components that are part of production are in focus, from the ground floor to the hall ceiling.
Designing evaporators and condensers for refrigerant mixtures with high temperature glide
The amended EU Regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases (EU 517/2014) came into force on 1 January 2015. The object of this regulation is to slow down climate change by drastically reducing CO2-equivalent emissions due to F-gases, including all synthetic refrigerants, by the year 2031.Reducing the EU’s total CO2-equivalent emissions, the “phase-down scenario”, constitutes a major challenge for the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. To achieve the very ambitious targets, we would need to reduce the average GWP of all refrigerants used from the current 2,200 – 2,300 to below 500.

Eurovent certification – an underestimated added value factor
In the day-to-day business of the refrigeration and air conditioning market, it is becoming increasingly clear that too little is known about the existence and importance of Eurovent certification. This can result in users missing out on significant monetary benefits. Güntner GmbH & Co. KG took this as an opportunity to address the topic at the 2015 Güntner Symposium and compile an overview of the background, processes and benefits of Eurovent certification. The contents of the presentation are summarised below.

Energetic considerations for regulatory systems for condensers under partial load
For his ground breaking energy-saving development, the Energy Balance Function (EBF), Peter Roth, Head of the Basic Development department at Güntner AG & Co. KG was awarded first place in the "Refrigeration or air-conditioning special applications" category.

AC versus EC motor technology Everyone is talking about EC technology, but what are the real benefits?
EC motor technology is today state of the art for fans and most customers demand that it be used in new installations in view of the possible energy savings. But how high are the real savings potentials? An extensive series of comparison measurements was made on an existing plant in order to find an answer to this question.

Energy saving at the high pressure side of a refrigeration system
Saving energy is a topic that has always been on the agenda at various levels of detail and interest. It is discussed and pleaded for in theoretical treatises published by academic institutes just as well as in discussions shown on TV between representatives from different social areas.
Influence of the heat exchanger design on dehumidification and frost formation
With air coolers, dehumidification and frost formation are almost unavoidable side effects, which are generally undesirable. Dehumidification has a detrimental effect on the quality and shelf life of goods that are displayed openly, such as fruit and vegetables and, for this reason should be kept to an absolute minimum.
How the air throw of air coolers is influenced by the spatial geometry and by air cooling
The air throws indicated in the data sheets are often not achieved in practice, because of the geometry of the cold room or other influences. For this reason, we have developed a model for calculation that is based on theoretical calculations and laboratory measurements and that allows determining the penetration depth of the air jet for each specific room individually.

Air coolers, air flow and temperature distribution in large cold stores
Refrigerated warehouses are being built in ever larger dimensions. Heights have increased significantly and automatic storage systems are the rule. The large dimensions and the automatic storage technology place new demands on the selection and installation of air coolers.
Air cooled condensers in ammonia refrigerating plants as alternative to evaporative condensers
In the past, ammonia refrigerating plants were mainly equipped with evaporative condensers. Are air-cooled condensers an interesting alternative to evaporative condensers from today’s point of view? Which consequences does the price increase for water, waste water and energy have on the operating costs of the different systems?

Sensible Use of Energy-Saving Fans
In order to make a statement about the sensible use of energy-saving fans, it must first be explained what energy-saving fans are. Are they just the most recent fan manufacturer’s developments with EC motors or owlet blades?
Energy saving on the low-pressure side of a refrigerating plant
By saving energy, CO2 emissions and operating costs can be reduced. But how can this be realised in practice? Which theoretical considerations have to be made beforehand? This article will give answer to these questions.
